I had a good birthday for many reasons. The minor reason is that, while I'm the newest hire at work, I'm not, as I thought, the youngest in the department. That honor belongs to CPP, who's got a wife and young daughter and is younger than me by ONE DAY!
the big reason was what was on the reference desk when I emerged from my cubical around lunchtime:
No, not the cat, the flowers. They are from JS, who made my day by sending them. They are beautiful, and their pinkitude matches my hair (sorta). Observe:
I know its uncharacteristically girly that I'm so touched by getting flowers. I don't care. They made me happy. If I'm not mistaken, JS is only the second man ever to send me flowers. Is there no limit to his wonderfulness?! No seriously, that's not a rhetorical question. So far, the only slight flaw I've found in his character is that he just doesn't share my compulsive need to read The Onion every week. It's just incomprehensible to me how one could enjoy The Onion and not WANT IT ALL THE TIME! ahem. anyway..
here's the old pic of my formerly red hair so you can see what I mean about the pink hair:
Nobody at work has said anything negative about it, or in fact, anything much at all. This town can be waaay laid back at times.
Also, I would be remiss if I did not publically thank shoutingboy for his Bday gift of "Blonde on Blonde" and "Blood on the Tracks". I didn't think Bob Dylan would ever have a home in my CD player, but I'm liking these. Wish I'd heard these before I'd heard his late 80's stuff, which made me think I should run and hide from Mr. Zimmerman. And thanks to freakgirl667 for the Jon Stewart egreeting and everyone who sent me bday wishes. It's important to have the goodwill of others when you're 100,000 years old. :-)
