Penultimate Peril: review for librarians only. [Nov. 14th, 2005|04:32 pm]
Just me.

Finished the new Lemony Snicket: The Penultimate Peril. There's a hotel in it built around the Dewey Decimal System: EG the sauna's in room 613, the Indian restaurant in 954, teachers are housed in room 371, etc.

I am still trying to figure out why the Laundry Room would be in room 025, which is usually a number for Library Science (not Laundry Science, which I'd put in 648). Either Mr. Snicket made an error, or there's a pun I'm missing here.

library operations : library :: hotel operations : hotel, so the laundry gets put in 025 is what I figure.

025 signifies a basement level which is, presumably, where laundry operations would take place. In a real library, as you know, the basement is frequently where the laundering of money gained by librarians betting tax money on rigged boxing matches -- as well as the pulping of unattended and misbehaving children -- takes place. Also, if you're a phillistine who has to pay for laundry, you need quarters...
