let me make sure I understand this Friendditto thing: [Mar. 5th, 2005|12:18 pm]
Just me.
this appears to be a list of the affected users:

So if none of these guys are on my friends list, I should be safe from "archiving". right?

The ditto cops should not be confused with the Ditty Bops.

uh, no, as those are the list of users affected, if you are not on the list, you are not on Frienditto.

One of the concerns is that those who are on it could potentially archive their friends' locked posts--see #3.

what lemur said..

...I know I'm not stupid enough to give out my LJ password- the question remained if one person on my friends list was stupid enough to do so. Apparently not. yay smart friends.

i'm still confused i guess.

let's use a specific example to clarify things.
andrewpants has a bunch of entries frienditto'd. therefore, anyone on his list could have given them his/her password to get those entries copied. there's no way of knowing who did it. it was not necessarily, in fact highly probably not, andrewpants, giving his password to get the entries copied over.

Re: i'm still confused i guess.

the way I understand it:

If Andrewpants joined frienditto, and you list andrewpants as a friend so he can read your locked entries, theoretically the frienditto people could log in as andrewpants, load his friends list, read -your- friends-only posts via his account, and archive your stuff, even if you never signed up for this "service".

That's why people are freaking out: if you have 100+ friends, and just one of them gave their info to frienditto, it might compromise you as well as them.

Re: i'm still confused i guess.

this is true, but you have no way of knowing who leaked a post, is my point. it could be any single person on your friends list.
