GOD.DAMN.DOG..... [Aug. 13th, 2004|07:22 pm]
Just me.
[mood |really, really fucking mad]

Must.control.urge.to.beat...defenseless...animal...

These were 2 velvet pillows with painted/embroidered designs on them, part of my "opium den" decor. The latchhooked Wonder Woman pillow, by contrast, received no damage.

He did this while I was home, upstairs vaccuuming. Looks like I have some vaccuming to do downstairs now as well...

I think it's time to buy a "baby gate" to keep him on the same floor as me so this doesn't happen as much.

just realized-

can't install baby gate without shutting cats away from litter box. will have to think of better solution. Killing and eating Elzar is beginning to sound pretty good.

Re: just realized-

Are you sure the cats can't get over the gate?

Re: just realized-

Do you think he would make a nice curry? Or perhaps a stew?

Re: just realized-

there's a recipe for dog stew which you can unpick from the narrative in King Rat by james clavell. in my 1983 (i was 13!) coronet books edition (ISBN 0 340 204451) it runs from around pp230 - pp236. it has papaya and idju beans in it.

Re: just realized-

Mmm...sounds pretty good. I'm just afraid Elzar is too skinny to taste very good. Then again, I actually have no idea how dog tastes so maybe it wouldn't matter.

Re: just realized-

*I* just realised that the cooking of the dog starts around pp225. This (in the novel) is a pretty skinny dog too, one which has been living in a Japanese PoW camp in Malaysia. Surely Elzar is more dinner-worthy than that?

I do have to ask - how much excercise does this beastie get? Does he just have a ton of nervous, pent-up energy he needs to work off on a hike?

If only you could train him to do that to Wilson's face.

Somebody posted something recently about separation anxiety -- was that you? If not, the gist was that if you ignore them for five minutes before you leave and when you get home, and come and go quietly, not giving them attention, it helps. Also when they make a mess, to not let them see you get upset or even cleaning it up. And if they follow you or run ahead of you into rooms, step back and change that pattern so they realize they aren't in charge of you...

I truly hope you don't mind the unsolicited post, but I noticed you were interested in Stephin Merritt among others, and thought you might like to check out a new music and film magazine. One of our feature articles this month focuses on Stephin Merritt.

Check it out:
