2002: The year in books

Last year, I made a list of all the books I read in 2001. I did well last year, reading 58 books, 20 of which were unabridged books on tape.

In 2002, I only read 33 books, 3 of which were audiobooks. No longer having a 20 minute (each way) commute makes for fewer audiobook opportunities, I guess. But it looks like I'm still about even on "real" books (38 vs. 30). One of the books this year, The Cold Six Thousand, was 688 pages and took me about 4 months of off-and-on reading to finish, so I blame this book for lowering my final count. It was pretty good, and I'd read its predecessor, American Tabloid, in 2001, so I wanted to finish it, even though it's the longest thing I think I've ever read. (Frank Herbert's Dune, which I read in junior high school and hated, still holds the record for seeming like the longest book I've ever read).
