Halloween and election day should be combined. Voting would be more fun in costume, plus the ancient decades-retired poll workers are already rockin' that living dead thing. There are always disappointments when the results of the election come in (some years worse than others, but no one is ever 100% happy with all the winners), and isn't it easier to face disappoinment in your princess/pirate/ ninja costume? Also, costumed adults would be a good visual reminder that it's election day; now all we have is those miniscule tasteful "I voted today" lapel stickers that you'll never notice like you would a Frankenstein serving you coffee in the morning drive-thru.

Who's with me?

Wouldn't have worked in 2000...

'...isn't it easier to face disappoinment in your princess/pirate/ ninja costume?'

Those ninja suits would've been pretty ripe after a month!

That's a really goddamn good idea. Or if not that, some sort of costumed attire on election day.

Hey, I'm gonna be a pollworker next week and I'm not decades-retired!

I would looove to do it in costume though :)

you are clearly the exception...

Everywhere I've voted poll workers are over 60, and often way older than 70. It makes sense: Who else has days free but the retired? Unfortunately, my poll workers have not, in the past, understood that many of us vote on our way to work and need to get in and get out quickly without a 15 minute delay to squint at the voter roster, looking for my name and then another 5 minutes to peel the "I voted" sticker off the sheet.

good to see the nimble and sighted starting to work the polls, tho. :-)

I agree.

Especially since Election Day is way more frightening, frankly.
