This is not my beautiful car... [Jan. 21st, 2004|10:05 am]
Just me.
So someone tried to steal my car from in front of my house last night, after 10pm when I got home from work. They tore all of the plastic off the column and did something to screw with the steering wheel adjustment/alignment.

Just in case the absurdity hasn't registered, let me state again:
Someone tried to steal MY car.

So now it's in the shop, and I may have to have the entire steering column replaced. oh joy.

A lot of car thefts in Seattle are for joyrides. Most are recovered.

Civics get stolen a lot. Apparently, even really distinctive ones.

Wow. Now that is certainly one stupid thing to do. Of course, if you're going to choose that car, no wonder they couldn't figure out how to hot wire it...

I've got to ask if you get pulled over a fair amount of the time because of the car?

nope...

>I've got to ask if you get pulled over a fair amount of the time because of the car?

Nope, I've never been pulled over out of "that outta be illegal" zeal. Since the car was decorated, I've been pulled over for:

1) speeding in a schoolzone (where the officer lays in wait and gets his quota, cuz the zone is poorly marked)
2) a highway speedtrap in Kentucky,
3) and 4) making left turns that I shouldn't have made (one ticketed, one not ticketed)

I was more or less at fault in all of these. The only time I can think I was pulled over for a WTF? reason was on September 13th, 2001, (or thereabouts) I saw a cop behind me on the highway and I slowed down, and I guess I was going too slow, and he pulled me over to see if something was wrong (since I guess lots of people were acting odd/sad after 9/11/01), but he didn't ticket me or anything.

Maybe the thief has an old 286 that crashed and he needed a system disk.

i loved the comment before me... *laughing still*

sounds like a total moron... i can see the police announcing that a car "covered in disks" was on the run. and the misinterpretation that could ensue.
